ABOUT ME

I am a qualified counsellor based in Surbiton, Surrey, and as a registered member of the BACP I abide by their code of ethics. I also keep up to date with current practices and training, with regular courses geared toward counselling and supportive work.
My training background is integrative-relational psychotherapy, which allows me to work in a way that suits your individual needs. I offer a therapeutic relationship where we can explore different experiences within your life, both past and present, and work to understand how they impact your life now.

Having worked within a range of settings, I have met and worked with many different people, and my counselling experience has grown through the years. I have counselled children in a primary school, aged between 7 and 11 years, where play therapy helped children to better understand their emotions. I have also worked as a counsellor within a centre for people struggling with addictions, and have supported family members of addicted individuals. Along with this, I have worked with various counselling and mental health organisations.

Before qualifying as a counsellor, I gained many years of experience working in a supportive role. I have worked in a centre for people who are, or are at risk of becoming homeless, where I worked one to one with individuals, in a supportive and guiding role; this is where I began to feel drawn to the field of counselling. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for an ESOL class, in a centre that supports refugees in South London. My most recent supportive role has been within a group home for young autistic adults who also struggle with mental health and various medical difficulties. Having worked for many years with neurodiversity, I have a great understanding of the difficulties neurodivergent people can face, and I work in a way that is respectful of differences in being, and thinking.

I believe that the counselling relationship needs to be safe, where trust can develop. My experience enables me to offer a human connection, where you can feel safe to explore difficult feelings and develop in a way that is true to yourself.
